BF Goodrich

Creator of all-terrain tyres

When a tyre company like BF Goodrich has been around for over 150 years, it’s not surprising to find many key events and achievements through the years. From fitting the car in the famous San Francisco chase scene in Bullitt with their tyres, to providing the tyres for the vehicles winning over 200 off-road competitions, you’ll find the BF Goodrich name cropping up time and again.

While the brand’s history is impressive, so too are the tyres it provides to drivers throughout the UK and indeed the world today. They’ve achieved many firsts, including the first all-terrain tyre produced in 1976. And today, you can expect to take full advantage of some of those firsts.

The history of BF Goodrich

BF Goodrich takes its name from its founder, Dr Benjamin Franklin Goodrich, who created the company in 1870 in Akron, Ohio. However, it did not produce tyres to begin with – instead, the company manufactured rubber hoses, often used by firefighters.

By the late 1800s, BF Goodrich began producing bicycle tyres, which in turn led to producing car tyres by 1896. As such, it was well positioned to compete with some of the other big US tyre brands around at that time – some of whom are still with us today, as is BF Goodrich.

BF Goodrich tyres today

Today, you can group this brand’s tyres into two broad categories – on road and off road. Within those two categories, you’ll find tyres that are ideal for the summer or winter months, and more intended to keep you going through all four seasons without the inconvenience of changing.

You can also browse BF Goodrich tyres in terms of the vehicle you drive. They cater for standard passenger cars through to SUVs. They also have a range of tyres suited to all-terrain 4×4 vehicles. If you have a vintage vehicle, well… they’ve got a range for those too. They also cater for van drivers, so whatever you’re driving and whenever you tend to go out and about, you’ll find the perfect tyre you can trust to help keep you safe.

Choosing the best BF Goodrich tyres for your vehicle

When you’re shopping for tyres from this brand range, you can expect a mid-range tyre delivering an outstanding performance. If you’re after the best possible grip across a range of surfaces, you can trust in everything from the All-Terrain T/A KO tyre, inspired by their original all-terrain tyre, to the Urban Terrain model. The latter has been developed to provide all-terrain knowledge to a regular car tyre, ensuring that water is quickly driven out of the tread pattern. This in turn reduces the odds that your vehicle will aquaplane.

We’ve given just a couple of examples from the wide range of BF Goodrich tyres here. Whatever you go for, you can rest assured you’ll get the best traction and grip whatever the weather decides to do and whatever road surface you find yourself on. Their all-terrain knowledge and experience now extend to daily driving, too.
